EGR COOLER OVERHEAT
(DTC CODE P1416 / DIAGNOSIS MONITOR CODE 85)

1. Use the HINO-DX to check that there is no malfunction of coolant overheat (DTC code P0217 / diagnosis monitor code 6).
   

   

   Standard: No malfunction of coolant overheat

    

NO Overheat caused by abnormality in the cooling system Check the cooling system for coolant leakage and coolant level.	YES Proceed to [2] Measuring resistance between sensor terminals

1. Set the starter key to the "LOCK" position and disconnect the EGR cooler temperature sensor connector.Measure resistance between the 1st and 2nd terminals of the EGR cooler temperature sensor connector (component side).

This code will be indicated when the EGR cooler temperature sensor is properly functioning and reads 105ºC or higher coolant temperature in the EGR cooler.

NO Fault in EGR cooler temperature sensor	YES Fault in EGR cooler

1. Confirm the DTC P1416 is inactive

   • Start the engine and let it idling condition.
   • Verify the DTC P1416 is inactive.

   

2. DTC Clear

   • Clear the DTC with Hino DX
   • Confirm the same DTC is not reoccurred
