The oil temperature sensor is installed on the transmission case, the oil temperature in the torque converter is detected, and a signal corresponding to the oil temperature is given as input to the transmission control computer ASSY. When the oil temperature of the torque converter rises to 145°C (293°F) or higher, the AT OIL TEMP lamp in the meter lights, and when it drops to -40°C (-40°F) or lower, the AT OIL TEMP lamp flashes.

Detail
- Remove the temperature sensor.
- Immerse the sender part of the temperature sensor into a vessel filled with original Toyota Auto Fluid Type T-IV.
- Heat the fluid and check the resistance between the terminals.
Standard:
Oil temperature [°C (°F)] Resistance value [kΩ] 115 (239) 657.1-726.3 120 (248) 584.8-646.4 145 (293) 340.8-375.3 155 (311) 277.9-307.1 Take care not to heat the oil excessively, as the oil may catch fire.
Replace the temperature sensor.
Proceed to [2]INSPECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TEMPERATURE SENSOR - TRANSMISSION CONTROL COMPUTER ASSY)
Detail
